Hi guys ...
Sorry for falling off of the radar for a couple of weeks. As you know, my last contract ended in July; and I spent the intervening time busting my ass to try and find not only a replacement job, but in fact a PERMANENT job (so tired of contracting).
Well, the good news is I managed to do just that. Since being "downsized" in the post-dotcom bust, I've finally landed a permanent job - over four years have passed.
I'm working just outside of Boston - in Cambridge if anyone's familiar (home of such famous schools such as Harvard and MIT) - for a "startup" company (actually about 6 years old, but they are pre-IPO). We are working on a pretty cool (and highly sophisticated) web-based application that, quite frankly, is so super-useful that I really don't fully understand it! (lol) But it's a great opportunity to learn a lot of new stuff, and shockingly enough they hit the top end of my salary range. It's like after four years of hell I'm finally getting my career back together again.
ANYWAY, I wanted to apologize for not being around after sort of getting the whole rebirth of MG thing going again. It has also affected my conversations with Doug Lombardi (actually, I did email him last week, but he uncharacteristically dropped the ball, and I've been too swamped to chase him down). So as to the whole HL1:DM thing, I have to get the dialogue going again. Might try to call him today. Now that I'm starting to settle in a bit here and learn what is approporiate as far as their Internet policies and such, I'm sure I will start being around more often.
Oh, and I did finally buy KotOR 2 as a new job present to myself, although I haven't had much time to play it. That's about it for now ...
