Anyone taken Ciprofloxacin before?

Ok, so I am on Cipro. After 6 months of pain and annoyance to me and my family, we are still trying the antibiotic route since it is the only thing I have responded to at all.

First time around I took 1000mg of Cipro and 1500mg of Flagyl for 14 days with no problems beyond nausea and headache and with a marked reduction in pain and the size of the lump. Worth the disconfort IMO. But after the 14 days of treatment, the lump and pain started to grow.

Now I am on the same dosage of Cipro and 1/2 the dose of Flagyl, but am supposed to go for 30 days. I am about 5 days in and I am unnaturally tired and confused...not to mention very moody. Nausea and headaches all the time too. Worse, my lower joints (ankles, knees, lower back) are sore as hell and my legs feel so weak it is creepy. Going up or down steps is painful and scary right now. WTF?

Has anyone else taken this stuff and had problems? Reading the internet for side effects (a panic inducing mistake) says that the meds can erode tendons and cartilege in weight bearing joints... like ankles, knees and lower back.

I have a call into the doc about it, but wondered of any of you have been in this spot.

Only piece of advice I can give you is this: stay away from self-diagnosis on the Internet. Last time I did that, I damn near had a panic attack. There's a word for the syndrome of reading medical books and getting phantom symptoms, but I can't remember what it is.

Talk to a doctor. Talk to several if you're concerned. The last thing you need is to take someone's generalities as definitive symptoms.
