I see Rush has a new album coming out on May 1st. They had a studio recorded EP released in 2004, and a full length studio album released in 2002. And they tour all the time. So you can catch them performing live every 2-3 years. I'm just so freaking jealous that your favorite band keeps recording & touring yet my favorite band has become a joke.
Van Halen hasn't released a studio album in over 10 years...and even at that, it was in 1998 and Gary Cherone was their vocalist. Their last quality album was released in 1995 when Sammy Hagar was still singing.
Eddie has kicked out Sammy from the band and recently kicked out the group's original bass player (Michael Anthony) too. Eddie replaced Michael Anthony with Eddie's 16 year old son. WTF is that about?!?!?!
The last music Eddie recorded was a couple of instrumental songs for....get this....a freaking pornographic movie soundtrack that was released last year. They have released 2 greatest hits albums in the past decade and will be releasing a 3rd this summer. So, as a fan, all I get are repackaged songs I already own because they're on other albums.
Van Halen was supposed to tour again this summer with David Lee Roth as the lead singer, but the tour got canceled before it ever got started. The lineup was going to be: Eddie Van Halen (guitars), Alex Van Halen (drums), Wolfgang Van Halen (bass), and David Lee Roth (vocals).
Eddie recently checked himself into rehab.
And to top it all off, the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last month and none of the current band members showed up. Eddie skipped out. Alex skipped out. David Lee Roth skipped out. The only two people to show up were the two people most recently kicked out of the band: Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony.
I'll go to my grave saying Van Halen recorded better music than Rush. But at least your favorite band hasn't become the laughing stock of the music business. I don't know who has become the bigger joke: Van Halen or Guns 'N Roses?
