SW:ToR check in

Hey Pratt, how are you and your better half enjoying ToR? I'm torn. I really like my character's story, but I'm less than impressed with the most of the multiplayer aspects of the game. Maybe I just picked a dead server, but I haven't been able to find a group for about 30 levels now... hell, I rarely even see another person even if I am at the Fleet. Maybe the game and/or community just needs time to mature, but I can't see myself paying the monthly fee much longer as things are. But maybe things are different on other servers... how's yours?

Loving it. Got a handful of toons now - one of each on the Republic side and we just rolled a BH/SI combo last week on a whim the other day just for kicks.

I've heard the endgame is seriously lacking, so we haven't been pushing any one character to 50. My "main" (a Smuggler whose story has been awesome) is till only 36 or thereabouts.

I do agree finding a group can be a pain in the ass. They really - seriously - need to add a queuing feature for "dungeons". Standing around yelling "LFG" for 45 minutes in the fleet is just lame. I haven't seen a population as sparse as you describe. At its lowest point, you might see about 40 people aboard the fleet, but it's usually close to 100.

But overall, having a really fantastic time enjoying the storied part of the game that BioWare is famous for (found the JC to be a bit lacking, but it redeems itself at the end of Chapter 1) - and overall, playing way too much as usual.

It might be time for me to move to another server then. Where are you guys again? Seriously though, when I go to the Fleet in prime time, there are usually less then 10 people there... often less than 5. I am doing the quests on Voss now, and the highest I have seen there is 4 including me. Maybe I'll log into my old Jedi toons and see of things are any better over there. As much as I like playing games solo, I also hate missing all the Flashpoints and elite quests along the way. Part of my dissatisfaction could be the result of too many years playing WoW. My mind unfairly wants to compare a brand new game with no community to a 7-8 year old game with probably the largest gaming community in the world.

Yeah a lot of that going on (WoW comparisons).

We're still over in Lord Praven, although I did make a Sith on Shadow Hand during the pre-launch but never saw you on so never really played him.

That's a bummer that your server is THAT empty. As it is, I think this game lacks the "M" in "MMO" feel. Many will argue that would you rather have spawn camping and the like - remember how you couldn't go anywhere near a spaceport in SWG because the lag was so bad?

I'd be content with a happy medium between the two. But you know what? I think queues would solve a ton of problems there. Then you could join a queue, go about your business and not have to waste playtime.

If you wanna roll a toon on LP (or even pick up your old ones) let me know - no pressure. Just so you know we're around.

Additional thought: I was kinda happy with the server populations pre- and post-launch. When it was just enough to spawn a new instance, but not so bad that you had to wait to get in a server. Game just felt more "alive" then somehow, I dunno.

Can't complain really. Good game - passes the time well.
